Being a crochet lover for both a hobby and a business, I have tried many crochet gadgets, books, patterns, and anything else associated with crochet.

Learn to knit, and get those creative juices flowing... I can still remember the moment I learned to knit. I was 6 years old, and my grandma sat down with me while my mother was busy with my new baby brother.

She taught me to cast on, and knit, and I was so excited I took my knitting everywhere.. it was all uneven and horrid, but I was excited that I had learned something new, and still love to knit to this day!

I am left handed, and always found many crafts hard to do because of it, such as crochet. But knitting can be done easily whether you are left handed or right handed.

Ok, so this tip is a no-brainer. Practice makes perfect. I would advise that you get yourself some yarn and a needle and just practice all the stitches. Once you become familiar with the stitches you will just look at a pattern and know how to make it - besides the fact that you will be able to manipulate the stitches to create your own masterpieces!.

2. LEARN HOW TO READ ABBREVIATIONS:

That's it. I had to have it. If I had to go to 10 different stores, line up at 4 AM on "Black Friday" or go online and bid far more than my pocketbook would allow, the hot toy of the season was going to be mine. I pictured my daughter's face opening it up. It would be the picture-perfect moment when at last she would tear open the toy she had begged for all season. A year has now passed. Now what was that toy? I honestly can't remember… and I'm sure she can't either.
